I've worked with various e-commerce systems over the years, and the vast majority have been pretty terrible. They'd either be difficult to integrate into a website, have administrative back offices that required a qualified programmer to add a product, or they'd run slowly or be glitchy just as the customer clicked 'buy'.
Thankfully those days are behind us now, although the choice of e-commerce platforms still includes a lot of these clunky old systems, we now use a relatively new platform called 'Ecwid' for our e-commerce websites.
The main beauty of this system is that anyone can use it. The product management is a simple, logical process, changing prices and adding pictures is all very straightforward, and above all - it just works.
You manage the shop from a single administrative web page, keeping the shop administration and stock management separate from the main website design - this is a massive benefit that means we don't need to redesign pages everytime you want to add a product.
