Here's more on our SEO services. All our sites are designed to be easy for you to update or edit - you won't need to be a programmer, all you do is login and edit the text, just like using a word processor.
We can add a massive variety of functionality, from job sites with cv uploads to e-commerce, advanced contact forms, newsletters and facebook 'like' buttons. Talk to us about your business and we'll give you expert advice on your online strategy and the options that will work well for you.
Back in the early days of the internet, if you wanted to change the text on a website, you needed to know html, and you had to have a copy of your site on your office PC, update that and then transfer the files via 'file transfer protocol' to your server, where they would replace the previous version and update your site.
You can still do that if you really want. We don't recommend it though - that's why all our sites are built on a type of framework known as a content management system (CMS).
There are a lot of advantages to using a CMS - the content of every page is a piece of cake to edit. You can use any computer connected to the internet (even a mobile phone if you have small fingers) - go to your site, log in, choose the page you want to edit and do it right there.
Here's a screenshot of the built in text editor I'm using to write the content of this page right now - as you can see, it's just like using a word processor.

And we're back!
Another advantage of using a content management system is that the content (the text and pictures that constiture each page of your site) is managed seperately from the design. The main benefit of this is that you can easily apply a new look to your site (a Christmassy template for example) without having to rewrite all your content.
There are also a multitude of plugins for most of the CMS systems we use, meaning if you want specific functionality ( e.g. a job board with the ability to upload CVs, an embedded video player, or a business directory) - there is usually an off the shelf solution that we can customise to fit your sites design. This greatly reduces the time spent building a site and as such, has a knock on effect on the cost of development time.
This site is built on a content management system called Joomla, which we like as it's incredibly flexible. We also build on the incredibly popular Wordpress platform, and for larger, more complex sites, we use a CMS named Drupal.
The cost and time savings, ease of use, great flexibility and availability of addons and plugins make a content management system the ideal choice for most business websites.
